Warning: If a horse is acting up during preparation for, or during the event, owners will be asked to remove the horse from the event without a refund. Please be considerate of others and your horse. If you feel he isn’t ready or is acting up, trust your instincts and keep yourself and others safe by politely removing yourself from the event.

1. Horse rules and regulations, release waiver and stall rental agreement (if needed)

2. Once your information has been received and approved your application will be considered confirmed and your payment will be processed and is NON REFUNDABLE but you are able to sell your spot to another.

3. Payment: $150 per clinic OR $350 for 3 Clinics. Check made payable to North Dakota Horse Expo is due with your application for the total amount of all the clinic fees OR you can pay via Paypal to NDEquineA@gmail.com. (A $50 fee will be applied to a check payment returned insufficient funds, closed account or any other reason. Payment must then be made to include the return fee plus the clinic costs with 3 days of notification or entry will be denied.)

4. Clinic fees DO NOT INCLUDE: stall rental or admission fees.

5. If you wish to participate in the Pre-Show Parade to Gladius please add a note with the clinics you are applying for.


  1. The total cost is due as part of your application. Fees will not be processed until confirmation of entry on May 1, 2021.

I have read the above terms and am participating of my own free will. I am aware of and accept all risks involved in participating in such an event. I accept all responsibility for myself and my horse(s) during the expo, I am financially and fully responsible for all injury, illness, property damage or death of myself, my horse or any human, property or animal I may come into contact with.  As stated in the North Dakota century code: 53-10-01 definitions and 53-10-02. “ an equine activity sponsor or an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant engaged in an equine activity, and, except as provided in subsection 2, no participant or participant's representative may maintain an action against or recover from an equine activity sponsor or an equine professional for an injury to or the death of a participant engaged in an equine activity.” 

Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risk

I am aware of the dangers and the risks to myself and my horse and any property involved while participating in the North Dakota Horse Expo, either by renting a booth, therapy stall, riding in a clinic or private lesson, volunteering or any other activity provided during the expo. Inherent risks of domestic animal activities include, but shall not be limited to:

  1. The propensity of a domestic animal to behave in ways i.e., running, bucking, biting, kicking, shying, stumbling, rearing, falling or stepping on, that may result in an injury, harm or death to persons or other horses on or around them;
  2. The unpredictably of a domestic animal's reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movement and unfamiliar objects, persons, or other animals;
  3. Certain hazards such as surface and subsurface conditions;
  4. Collisions with other domestic animals or objects; and
  5. The potential of a participant to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as failing to maintain control over the domestic animal or not acting within such participant's ability
  6. Horses contracting illness during the event.

WARNING:Under North Dakota Law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities. North Dakota Century Code ch. 53-10 http://www.legis.nd.gov/cencode/t53c10.pdf

I understand that this activity involves certain risks for physical injury and/or death. I understand that equipment, if any, which may be provided for my protection may be inadequate to prevent serious injury. I also understand that there are potential risks of which I may not presently be aware. Nevertheless, I voluntarily elect to participate in this activity with knowledge of the danger involved to myself and my horse, and I hereby agree to accept and assume any and all risks of property damage, personal injury, or death. North Dakota Horse Expo, Its committee and volunteers, North Dakota Equine Association and all of its constituents asserts lack of responsibility or liability for injury resulting from this activity.

Waiver of Liability and Indemnification

In consideration for being allowed to voluntarily participate in the above-referenced activity and or intramural event, on behalf of myself, my personal representatives, heirs, next of kin, successors and assigns, I forever:

  1. waive, release, and discharge the North Dakota Horse Expo, North Dakota Equine Association, And it’s committee members or volunteers, its agencies, officers, and employees from any and all negligence and liability for my death, disability, personal injury, property damages, property theft or claims of any nature which may hereafter accrue to me, and my estate as a direct or indirect result of my participation in the above referenced activity or event. And 
  2. defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the North Dakota Horse Expo, North Dakota Equine Association its agencies, officers and volunteers, from any and all claims of any nature, including all costs, expenses, and attorney's fees, which may in any manner result from or arise out of this agreement, except for claims resulting from or arising out of the State's sole negligence.

I hereby consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident, or illness during this activity or event. This release, indemnification, and waiver shall be construed broadly to provide a release, indemnification, and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law. I, the undersigned participant, affirm that I am at least 18 years of age and am freely signing this agreement. If I am not 18 years of age my parent or legal guardian has signed on my behalf. I have read this form and fully understand that by signing this form I am giving up legal rights and/or remedies which may otherwise be available to me regarding any losses I may sustain as a result of my participation. I agree that if any portion is held invalid, the remainder will continue in full legal force and effect. I have read and agree to adhere to all Horse Rules and Regulations of the NDHE.

Please Read Before Signing

All horses entering the fairgrounds will be inspected for health issues. If horses fail this assessment at the gate the horse will not be allowed to participate in the event. 

All out of state horses and all sale horses must have:

1) Current negative Coggins certificate
2) Health certificate of inspection
3) Brand release 

  1. If you do not have these documents in hand you will not be permitted to unload your horse. Your paperwork will be checked at the livestock gate. 
  2. You may not tie your horse anywhere other than to your trailer or other designated areas. 
  3. Please be considerate of other attendees in parking areas.
    • Day parking is permitted in the livestock area.
    • No overnight parking is allowed in the livestock area.
    • Camping is permitted in the west camping area only.;
    • No horses are allowed in the camping area or on any grass areas surrounding the event center.
  4. In the case of a horse whom incurs ANY physical or property damage while anywhere at NDHE, the horse owner will be held responsible for any and all damages it causes. North Dakota Horse Expo (NDHE)/ North Dakota Horse Expo (NDEA) are not responsible for any horse damages it causes. No exceptions 
  5. North Dakota Horse Expo (NDHE) is not responsible for any sickness/injuries a horse may contract on the property during the event. Every measure is being taken to keep horses safe, happy and healthy. If your horse appears to be sick or if you see another unattended horse who appears to be ill, experiencing colic, or appears to be seriously injured, please report it to the proper staff or call 701-426-0174 immediately so the owner can be found.
  6. If you choose to rent a stall you must clean out your own stall at least once per day, as well as at the end of the event. Forks and wheelbarrows will be provided. Please dispose of manure in designated areas. Disposal of manure from your trailer into the waste pile for stall cleanings is not permitted. 
  7. Damage to stalls done by horses during the expo will be the responsibility of the owner. Please thoroughly check your designated stall prior to turning your horse loose in the stall. If damage exists prior to setting your horse loose in the stall please contact the designated staff to fix it before your horse is turned loose. 
  8. Please help keep our fairgrounds clean for other horse owners, riders and guests. If you and/or your horse make a mess, please pick it up. Please clean up all manure and shavings left behind by your horse. Littering fines will be given to those who make a mess and don’t clean it. 
  9. If you wish to have power by your stall please mention it when reserving your stall. Please bring an extra power strip and extension cord with you, so that others can use the power as needed. 

As stated in the North Dakota century code: 53-10-01 definitions and 53-10-02. “ an equine activity sponsor or an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant engaged in an equine activity, and, except as provided in subsection 2, no participant or participant's representative may maintain an action against or recover from an equine activity sponsor or an equine professional for an injury to or the death of a participant engaged in an equine activity.”

I hereby have read the NDHE Rules and Regulations, provided a signed waiver and agree to all terms listed above on this date of, May 19, 2024 and am aware of any and all risks to myself and my horse(s) and agree not to hold NDHE or Dirt To Diamonds , LLC  responsible or liable for any injury or death surrounding this event.
